It is with heartfelt sadness, yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived, that we remember Reverend Eldon “Dale” Lane, who passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, at the age of 76. Dale was a man whose deep faith, unwavering integrity, and love for his family left a lasting mark on those who knew him. His life was a testament to dedicated service, both to his Lord and to his loved ones.
Born into a legacy of faith as the son of Pastor William and Cleo Lane, Dale felt a calling to ministry early in his life. He admired his father’s example of service and sought to emulate that dedication in his own journey. This path led him and his beloved wife, Lynn Ann, whom he married in 1967, to make a significant commitment in 1972. It was then that they joined Pastor Tommy Barnett here in Phoenix, aligning themselves with the mission and ministry of the church now known and loved as Dream City Church. This decision marked the beginning of a long and meaningful connection to this church community during a vibrant period of its history.
While we may not know all the specific roles Dale held over the years, his steadfast presence and commitment alongside Pastor Barnett from those early days speak volumes. His life scripture, John 15:16 – “You did not choose Me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain…” – beautifully reflects a life lived with purpose and a desire for lasting impact.
Beyond his calling, Dale was a devoted family man. He was a constant rock for his daughters, Lisa and Michelle, and cherished his role as “Papa” to his five grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Memories shared by his family – from simple joys like pre-church donut runs to adventurous camping trips and hikes – paint a picture of a loving father and grandfather who treasured time spent together.
Dale was known for his character: faithful, wise, strong, and possessing a true servant’s heart. He carried himself with integrity and had a genuine passion for people and for seeing God’s kingdom grow. Alongside his faith and family, he nurtured other passions, including a deep love for Arabian horses, even fulfilling a dream of owning a ranch and raising these magnificent animals. He also enjoyed the process of building and selling homes over the years, showcasing his diverse talents and interests.
On April 12th, family and friends gathered at Dream City Church to celebrate Dale’s remarkable life and legacy. Though he will be deeply missed, the impact of his faith, his commitment to service, and the love he shared with his family remain. We honor the memory of Eldon “Dale” Lane – a faithful servant, a devoted husband, father, and Papa, and a cherished member of our community. May his legacy of faith continue to inspire.
