Josh and Johanna Chumley lead the Marriage ministry (DREAMarriage) at Dream City Church, guiding couples toward Christ-centered relationships.
Married 24 years with four children, they share a powerful testimony of God’s restoration in their marriage and passionately believe He can “do it again” for others.
Josh holds degrees in psychology, Bible, and counseling, plus certifications in leadership coaching and business development. Johanna has degrees in human development, Bible, and education, and is certified in Trauma Healing (Trauma Healing Institute) and Life Coaching (Light University).
Both are ordained ministers with 10 years of marriage ministry experience. Their philosophy: God designed marriage as a picture of Christ and His Church (Ephesians 5:25–33), with a unique calling on every couple as a united team—their marriage is their primary mission field.
Through vulnerable testimony, biblical teaching, and practical tools, Josh and Jo help couples heal, grow closer to God, and fulfill their shared purpose.
An excellent pre-marital program that will be offered at all our campuses, implementing SYMBIS, (Save Your Marriage Before It Starts), which was created by Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott. It’s an exciting and interactive program that provides couples with a personalized assessment and other tools to prepare them for lifelong love. Research shows that couples who complete a premarital program reduce their risk of divorce 31 percent. The DREAMarriage ministry will serve the engaged and soon-to-be married couples at our church, as well as those in our community.
Weekly discipleship classes offer married couples the opportunity to discover, review and interact with God’s truths as it relates to different facets of their marriage. Plus, these classes help couples establish relationships with one another, building a supportive community in the process. We have identified six core areas of focus: marriage enrichment, communication, conflict resolution, in laws and extended family relationships, personal growth, careers and finance. Participants will receive handouts at each class to build their own DREAMarriage Manual of resources.
It’s no secret that every couple will encounter crisis, and the goal of our mentors is to help you navigate yours and find deeper intimacy on the other side, as well as just share insight and offer support. Research shows that 84 percent of young married couples want a marriage mentor, and those who have one report being healthier and happier in their marriages. Each of our volunteer mentor couples are certified through the Marriage Mentor Academy.
