Greetings, Dream City Church! As we start our Monday, let’s take a moment to reflect on the insights we gathered yesterday about being used by God. We realized that the only way to make a significant difference is to be distinct in our journey. Today, I want to approach this concept from another perspective. Let’s explore the importance of recognizing and valuing what God has currently placed in our hands.
Do Not Despise Small Beginnings
The scripture from Zachariah 4:10 reminds us not to despise the day of small beginnings. It’s crucial to acknowledge what God has bestowed upon us in our current circumstances. When we thank God for these blessings and present them back to Him, they become sanctified and empowered, ready to be used and multiplied for His purpose.
Consider this question: What has God currently placed in your hands? Reflect on the position, influence, wealth, wisdom, or relationships you hold. The journey begins by offering these gifts back to God, inviting Him to use them for His glory.
A Story of Faithfulness: Joe Martinez
Let me share an inspiring story I recounted during our staff meeting last Wednesday. Joe Martinez, our second-in-command at Dream City Church, illustrates the power of being faithful with what’s at hand. Fifteen years ago, Joe moved to Phoenix jobless, yet he was presented with an opportunity to direct our church pantry. Despite knowing nothing about food ministry, Joe embraced the challenge.
He diligently learned from local food distributors and, through God’s guidance, turned Mom’s Pantry into a crucial resource for the community. His journey didn’t stop there. As a volunteer, Joe’s commitment and impact caught our attention, leading to a full-time position. Joe’s story is a testament to recognizing the potential in what may seem small and trusting God to elevate it to greater heights.
God’s Example of Starting Small
Interestingly, God Himself exemplifies the beauty of small beginnings. When God chose to come to Earth, He did so as an embryo in Mary’s womb, not with grand displays but through a humble beginning. Jesus lived a modest life in Nazareth and was often overlooked. The locals couldn’t see the divine in Him because they underestimated the small, missing the profound presence of God among them.
What Small Thing Has God Given You?
I encourage you this week to contemplate what small beginnings God has orchestrated in your life. Think of Moses in the Bible; with a simple rod, God demonstrated mighty wonders after it was surrendered to Him. If you want to see exponential growth and divine purpose in what you hold, present it to God. Let Him maximize its potential for His glory.
Conclusion
In conclusion, take a moment today to appreciate and offer up what God has given you, however small it might seem. By doing so, you pave the way for God to perform wonders through it. I love you all dearly and am eager to see you this Wednesday night for another wonderful gathering. May God bless and use you mightily this week!
