This journey has been illuminating, and Sunday’s message was instrumental in setting the course toward where we aspire to be in our lives. For those who missed it, the series, including Sunday’s insightful message, is available online. It provided us with nine essential steps to guide us to our desired destinations.
Highlighting Step Three: Finding a Promise
Today, I want to focus on step number three: finding a promise from God in the Word of God. Think of the Word of God as your spiritual GPS, offering specific promises that guide you to various significant places in life—emotionally, relationally, spiritually, and financially. Take the story of Abraham, for instance. He moved forward with confidence because he was anchored by a God-given promise. This promise provided him stability, especially when progress seemed delayed.
The Waiting Room: A Place of Reflection and Anticipation
Do you ever find yourself in a waiting room, stuck in what feels like a holding pattern, making little headway? It’s crucial to cling to your God-given promises during these times. Remember, God is a promise keeper. He is not one to break promises. I was personally reminded of this truth one Monday night.
While waiting on the Phoenix campus for my daughter to finish her practice, I sat in a familiar sanctuary—the very place I frequented years ago during my discipleship program. In that sacred space, I would pray daily, seeking God’s guidance and yearning for clarity about my future and ministry. As I revisited those memories, I was overwhelmed with gratitude. The promises God made back then have indeed been fulfilled, albeit not in the manner or timeline I expected.
A Testament of Faithfulness
As I reflected on those moments, I realized the magnitude of God’s faithfulness. Though the journey didn’t unfold exactly as I anticipated, I stand today as a testament that the Lord honors His word. And just as He fulfilled His promises to me, He intends to do the same for you.
So, in your moments of waiting, when progress seems elusive, hold onto your promises. Trust in the unwavering words of the Lord, for you can be confident that He will see them come to fruition.
