I put my faith in Jesus, now what?

At Dream City our mission is to lead people into a fully devoted relationship with Jesus Christ by loving people, cultivating community, and inspiring hope. Discovering Christ goes much deeper than being saved. So, what do you do after salvation?

Five consistent habits to develop as a Christian:

PRAY

Prayer is our direct line of communication with God, a foundational habit involving both speaking to Him and learning to listen for His voice. It’s where we cultivate intimacy, express dependence, and bring our needs, praises, and anxieties before Him with trust. We are encouraged, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6).

STUDY

Engaging with Scripture is vital for spiritual growth, understanding God’s will, and equipping ourselves for life. Regularly studying the Bible allows God’s truth to transform our minds and hearts, guiding our actions and deepening our relationship with Him. As Paul wrote, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

COMMUNITY

Christian faith isn’t meant to be lived in isolation; authentic community provides essential support, encouragement, mutual accountability, and opportunities to practice love. Sharing life with fellow believers helps us grow, bear one another’s burdens, and live out our faith practically. Scripture urges us, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another” (Hebrews 10:24-25).

ATTEND CHURCH

Regularly gathering with the local church body for corporate worship, biblical teaching, and fellowship is a fundamental Christian discipline. It’s a primary setting where we collectively honor God, learn from His Word proclaimed, participate in ordinances like communion and baptism, and serve together as an expression of Christ’s body on earth, fulfilling the call “not giving up meeting together” (Hebrews 10:25).

GENEROSITY

Cultivating generosity reflects the selfless heart of God, who gave His Son for us (John 3:16). This habit extends beyond finances to freely sharing our time, abilities, and resources as stewards of God’s gifts, trusting Him to provide. We remember Jesus’ teaching, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35), and strive to give joyfully, because “God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).
