Christmas at Dream City Church is always a spectacle—from the dazzling lights of the Celebration of Christmas to the packed services. But if you look past the pageantry, you’ll find the real heartbeat of the season: The Season of Compassion.

At the center of this year’s outreach is one of our most cherished traditions: The Christmas Bike Build and Giveaway.

The Mission: 1,000 Bikes. 1,000 Smiles.

This year, Dream City Church has set a bold goal: to gift 1,000 bicycles to children across our communities (Phoenix, Glendale, Show Low, and beyond).

For many of us, a bike was a childhood staple—a rite of passage that meant racing down the street with friends or feeling the wind on your face. But for the families we serve, a brand-new bike is often an impossible luxury.

For many of these children, this will be the very first bike they have ever owned.

Why Bikes?

It’s easy to think of a bicycle as just a toy, but in the eyes of a child, it represents so much more:

  • Freedom: The ability to explore their neighborhood and feel independent.

  • Confidence: The pride of owning something brand new, not a hand-me-down.

  • Hope: A tangible reminder that they are seen, loved, and valued by their community and by God.

As Pastor Luke and Angel Barnett often remind us, we exist to “Inspire Hope.” A bike is a vehicle for that hope—literally and spiritually.

A Community Effort

The “Build” in “Bike Build” isn’t just about assembling gears and handlebars; it’s about building a bridge to our community. This massive undertaking is powered entirely by the generosity of the Dream City family.

Whether it’s through financial donations or volunteers who help organize the distribution, every single bike represents a church family that refuses to just go to church, but chooses to be the church.

How You Can Get Involved

Here is how you can help “build” this miracle:

  1. Give a Bike: You can sponsor a bike directly. A simple donation of $100 can put a set of wheels under a child this Christmas.

  2. Pray: Pray for the 1,000 children who will receive these gifts. Pray that this bike serves as an introduction to the love of Jesus.

Let’s Pedal Joy This Christmas

When that child wakes up to a shiny new bike, they aren’t just seeing metal and rubber. They are seeing a message that says, “You matter.”

Let’s come together to make this the most generous Christmas yet. Let’s build more than bikes—let’s build a legacy of love.
