It started with a quiet message.
In the second week of May, someone in the Dream City Church network reached out:
A single mom in our community is in need. She has nothing for her baby. Can the women’s ministry help?
There was no formal request. No event. No campaign. Just a question. A call for help.
Kristie Sexton, our new women’s ministry pastor, had only been in her role a short time. She could’ve hesitated, waited to meet with a committee or formulate a plan. But instead, she responded with what she had: a simple Facebook post and Instagram story.
And something holy happened.
The post spread. Messages came pouring in. People who had never met this young mother stepped up, dropped off gifts, and asked what more was needed. Within days, three full tables were covered in baby supplies: diapers, wipes, bottles, onesies, swaddles, car seats, toys, and more. Enough for a new beginning. Enough to remind her she was not forgotten.
They didn’t stop there. They threw her a baby shower. Celebrating her, honoring her, and surrounding her with the kind of love every new mom longs for but not every woman receives.

This is what belonging to the Church should look like. Not programs first. Not policies.
People. Stepping in. Showing up. Becoming the hands and feet of Jesus.
One woman who gave shared through tears, “I was raised by a single mom.
I remember what it was like when we had nothing and how people showed up to help us. Now it’s my turn to give back.”
That’s what happens when a need meets a willing heart.
That’s what happens when Jesus is at the center.
That’s the legacy generosity creates.
Jesus was always drawn to the overlooked. The woman at the well. The single woman who gave her last coin. The desperate mother who risked humiliation just to touch the hem of His garment for healing. He didn’t just provide for them. He saw them. He restored dignity. He reminded them they mattered.
That’s exactly what happened in this moment.
A mother who felt invisible was suddenly the center of a room filled with blessing.
Not because she asked.
But because someone else noticed.
That’s the power of the Church. Not just gathering on Sundays, but becoming a living, breathing reflection of Christ. Meeting needs before they turn into crises. Turning isolation into celebration.
So yes, this story is about a baby shower.
But it’s also about the Spirit of God moving through ordinary people.
It’s about a church that sees needs and meets them with open hands and full hearts.
It’s about a young mom whose life just shifted because a few women decided to reflect Jesus.
This is what belonging looks like. And at Dream City Church, that heartbeat is made possible by Kingdom Builders.
