As we near the end of our “Next10: Decade of Destiny” campaign, we’ve been focusing on how to achieve success in every area of life—emotionally, spiritually, financially, and vocationally. This week, Pastor Luke Barnett reminded us that our career and daily jobs are a powerful avenue for God’s blessing, provided we embrace a mindset that goes beyond the average.

The Call to Excellence in Your Vocation

God blesses those who are willing to work hard, go beyond the call of duty, and simply be better than average. When you step into your workplace, your goal should be more than just completing your tasks. Look for opportunities to glorify the Lord and to care for the people around you. Doing more than what is expected of you isn’t just a recipe for professional success; it’s a demonstration of a spiritual principle that causes you to stand out.

Dealing for Destinies, Not Dollars

The intensity of this calling was brought to life through a deeply personal story. Pastor Luke shared a moment with the director of the Dream Center, who was in tears after losing three men from their discipleship program this week—one tragically lost his life after leaving the program, unable to handle sobriety.

The director’s immediate, heartbroken response was, “Pastor Luke, I just need to work harder.”

This raw moment highlights a profound truth: for those on the front lines of ministry, the work is about the destinies of people, not just dollars. But this truth doesn’t only apply to full-time ministry staff; it applies to all of us. As believers, we must recognize that in whatever sphere of influence God has placed us, we are dealing for lives, for impact, and for destiny.

A Partnership That Changes Lives

If God is blessing your business, raising you up, promoting you, and increasing your family’s wealth, remember that you are a vital partner in the greater work of the ministry. Your commitment to excellence in your job fuels the mission of rescuing people from drug and alcohol addiction, human trafficking, and other crises. We simply could not do the work of the ministry here without your support and partnership.

Unlike the mundane tasks that feel like “spinning your wheels” (like shaving, which must be done again tomorrow), your dedicated work is not done in vain. When you work hard and glorify God in your business, you are making an eternal difference.

You are an ambassador of Jesus Christ in your workplace. So, as you go to work today, do your work as unto your real boss—not your supervisor, but the big boss, Jesus Christ himself.
