As we journey through life, there are moments that profoundly remind us of God’s unwavering faithfulness. Reflecting on these instances not only strengthens our faith but also assures us that the same God who has been with us in the past will see us through the future. Here, Pastor Dave Ansell shares a moving testament of God’s presence in the life of his family; a story of hope, promise, and divine intervention.

Faithfulness Through Time

I often ponder the enduring faithfulness of God. Throughout the years, He has been abundantly generous and kind, exceeding anything I could have imagined or deserved. Hebrews 13:8 assures us, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” This truth allows me to confidently expect that the God who was faithful in my past will undoubtedly remain faithful in the future.

Embracing God’s Promises

God’s excitement for our future is greater than we can comprehend. He eagerly anticipates our arrival into what He has in store for us. A pivotal aspect of our spiritual journey involves identifying a promise from God and holding onto it while we await the fulfillment of our future visions. This practice was brought into sharp focus during a critical time in our family’s life.

Brink’s Story: A Trial of Faith

Several years ago, our grandson, Bri, faced a life-threatening challenge when he was diagnosed with a rare heart condition called El Kappa. He required urgent open-heart surgery, a daunting prospect for our family. Amidst the uncertainty, we united with Matt and Hillary Young, fervently clinging to the promises of God, trusting in Christ’s power to heal, and the assurance that nothing is too hard for God.

In the midst of this trial, we found ourselves facing a pivotal decision about Brink’s health. When the doctor asked us what we wanted to do, I, in turn, asked him, “What would you do if this were your little boy?” This question momentarily unsettled him, but he returned with a profound answer: He would seek the best heart surgeon in the world for his child.

Miraculously, the doctor had reached out to Dr. Vaughn Starns, renowned as a maestro in his field, and secured his agreement to perform Brink’s surgery. This moment reminded me of the scripture, “My God shall supply all of your needs according to his riches in glory” (Philippians 4:19). Despite our limitations, God’s resources were limitless.

Witnessing the Miracle

The hours spent in the waiting room were filled with prayer, anticipation, and tears as we awaited the miracle we so desperately needed. When Dr. Starns finally emerged with his scrubs marked by sweat, he assured us that Brink’s heart was not only repaired, but strengthened against future complications.

As we descended to the hospital lobby to eat—and as relief and gratitude enveloped us—a pianist played the hymn “It Is Well with My Soul.” In that moment, surrounded by people, I listened and reflected on God’s greatness, my eyes welled with tears of joy and gratitude. The words resonated deeply, reminding me of God’s awesome wonder and the power He displays throughout the universe.

A New Day with New Confidence

As each new day dawns, regardless of the challenges we face, we must cling to God’s promises and confront them with the confidence that comes from serving a great God. He has been faithful in the past, He stands with us in the present, and He has immense plans for our future. Be encouraged to hold onto these truths, knowing our God is always with us and His provision is abundant.

Hold tight to God’s promises today, for He is indeed a great God with extraordinary plans for your life. May you find peace and strength in the knowledge of His steadfast love and faithfulness.

God bless you all. Have a wonderful day!
