Understanding Our Purpose
This past week, Pastor Kristie delivered a powerful message challenging us to ensure that both our spiritual and physical lives are in good shape. Feeling inspired, I want to expand on her concept of living life with eternal purpose and finishing strong. In Acts 20:24, the Apostle Paul beautifully encapsulates this mindset: “I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”
Purpose Over Preference
Paul’s life teaches us the importance of prioritizing purpose over preference. His mission wasn’t about comfort, recognition, or personal gain. Instead, he was committed to spreading the gospel and leading people to a relationship with God, even as he worked in the marketplace. In a world that pulls us toward self-centered living, Paul shows us the necessity of prioritizing God’s purpose over our own comfort. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God has a plan for us, plans for prosperity, hope, and a future.
Commitment to Faithfulness
The second lesson from Paul is the importance of committing to faithfulness. Finishing strong is not just about the end; it’s also about how we live and what we endure in the middle of life’s journey. Paul faced beatings, shipwrecks, and rejection, yet he remained faithful by keeping his eyes on his goals. Are you in a season where the finish line feels distant? Don’t give up. Your faithfulness today sets the stage for tomorrow’s fruitfulness. Stay rooted in prayer, scriptures, and your community.
Building a Lasting Legacy
Finally, to finish strong, we must aim to leave a legacy that inspires future generations. Paul’s commitment wasn’t just for his own time; it was meant to inspire others to follow Jesus. Reflecting on my own journey, I remember my youth director, John Clifford, whose dedication left a lasting impact on me and many others. What legacy are you building? Your choices today will shape the spiritual inheritance of those you influence.
Running the Race
Let’s choose obedience, integrity, and grace, shaping our lives to serve as a testimony to those around us. When we finish strong, we pass the baton of faith to those who will continue the race. So, how do we run this race to win? By living life on purpose and committing to faithfulness each day so that our legacy endures beyond us.
